Senator Losada criticized Senator Parrilli during a Senate committee meeting, accusing him of being unaccustomed to working, as the committee had been inactive for much of the previous year. Losada emphasized that the committee is now actively working and advancing on various projects, challenging Parrilli to acknowledge that change. The discussion between the two escalated rapidly, even involving former president Cristina Kirchner, who was recently sentenced to six years in prison for the Public Works case.
The chairman of the committee, Juan Carlos Pagotto, and Losada intended to advance the report on several projects, including one on the comprehensive approach to organized crime. Other projects that received green light included the amendment of the law on dismantling motor vehicles and selling auto parts, and the extension of the National Voluntary Firearm Surrender Program. Despite efforts to advance these projects, the lack of quorum and limited parliamentary activity had hindered progress.
The exchange between Losada and Parrilli continued until the end of the meeting, when Parrilli requested another informational meeting, prompting an exchange of words between the two. The ruling party, after the meeting, focused on the city of Rosario, Santa Fe, due to the growing drug trafficking crime in the area. In an attempt to address this issue, officials from the National Ministry of Security and the provincial government of Santa Fe were called to discuss the situation.
The plenary of the Committees on Internal Security and Drug Trafficking and Justice and Penal Affairs of the Senate managed to issue a ruling on the bill proposing a comprehensive approach to organized crime, or "Anti-Mafia Law". Despite the absence and opposition from Kirchnerism, the ruling party managed to gain support from allied blocs to advance the project. The initiative, launched by the Ministry of Security, seeks to combat organized crime and has the backing of various political factions. The tension between Parrilli and Losada concluded with an exchange of ironic statements before the meeting ended.
